dc.description.abstract | In this assignment we are discussing the topic of how kindergarten teachers work with preventing bullying among children. We address the following issue: How do kindergarten teachers work with preventing bullying in kindergarten? To find answers to this issue we used the qualitative method, where we used an interview guide. We interviewed four kindergarten teachers in two different kindergartens. We chose to interview two kindergarten teachers with longer experience, and two kindergarten teachers who are newly educated. We wanted to find out the differences in the attitudes and understandings when it comes to the topic of bullying amongst children. In the beginning of the year 2021, a new law about bullying was set (Barnehageloven, 2005). Therefore, we wanted to research prevention of bullying in kindergarten. This new law requires that kindergarten teachers work continuously with prevention of bullying. A key find in our research was that both kindergartens are preventing bullying, by working continuously with topics such as friendship and feelings. Findings from our research shows that to prevent bullying in kindergarten, we need to acknowledge that bullying occurs amongst children. Our experience throughout this assignment shows that the kindergartens are in an initial phase, where there still is more focus on treatment rather than prevention. | en_US |
