Framstillingen av okkupasjonstiden i Egersund og Dalane i lokalhistoriske tekster og på museum

Abstract

Egersund var den første byen i Norge som ble okkupert av tyskerne 9. april 1940. Denne oppgaven analyserer framstillingen av okkupasjonstiden i Egersund og distriktet Dalane. Studien er avgrenset til å handle om framstillinger i en rekke sentrale lokalhistoriske faglitterære bøker og framstillinger på Dalane Folkemuseum. Oppgaven søker å kaste lys over den kollektive erindringen om krigen i Egersund og Dalane. I undersøkelsen av den lokalhistoriske faglitteraturen benytter jeg meg av diskursanalyse og narrasjonsteori. I undersøkelsen av krigsutstillingen på Dalane Folkemuseum bruker jeg museumsanalyse, og noen perspektiver inspirert fra representasjonsanalyse. Analysen baseres på ulike utvalgte tema om krigen. Temaene er: invasjonsdagen, motstandskampen, konstruksjonen av ”vi” og ”de andre” og den lokale minnekulturens posisjon i en nasjonal og internasjonal kontekst. Målet med oppgaven er å identifisere en grunnfortelling og finne ut hva som preger minnekulturen om krigen i området.

Egersund became the first city in Norway, to be occupied by the Germans on the 9th April of 1940. This thesis analyses the representation of the occupation years in Egersund and the Dalane district. The study is delineated to cover the investigations of important local history texts and Dalane museum of cultural history. The thesis aims to shed light on the collective memory of the war (WWII) in Egersund and Dalane. In the study of the local history texts, I will use discourse analysis and historical narrative theory. Regarding the study of the museum, I will use museum analysis and some perspectives inspired by representation analysis. The investigation is based on selected themes related to the war. They are as follows: the invasion day, the resistance battle, the construction of “us” and “them”, and the local memory culture’s place in a national and international context. The aim is to identify a grand narrative and to find out what the memory culture about the war consists of.
