Kjæledyr i Realistisk Barnelitteratur

Abstract

I denne avhandlingen har jeg studert fremstillingen av kjæledyr i realistisk barnelitteratur og hvordan normer for god dyrevelferd kommer frem her. Materiale som forskes på er to illustrerte barnebøker, med kjæledyr som protagonister. Det teoretiske grunnlaget som er tatt i bruk for å svare på forskningsspørsmålene og problemstillingen, er tidligere forskning på dyr i litteraturen, narrativ teori, etologi og ikonotekstteori. Største delen av avhandlingen består av analyse og drøfting. Her blir de litterære verkene analysert i forhold til narrative virkemidler, zoologisk korrekthet og empati. Videre blir funnene fra analysen drøftet i forhold til den historiske selvbiografiske dyrefortellingen og normer for god dyrevelferd i Norge i dag. Analysen og drøftingen blir konkludert på slutten av avhandlingen, hvor forskningsspørsmålene og problemstillingen blir besvart.

In this dissertation, I have studied the fabrication of pets in realistic children’s literature and how norms for desirable animal welfare is portrayed here. The research material is two illustrated children’s books, with animal protagonists. The theoretic foundation that is being used here to answer my research questions and thesis statement, is earlier research on animals in literature, narrative theory, ethology and iconotext theory. The largest section of this dissertation consists of analysis and discussion. The research material is analysed in relation to narrative means, zoological correctness and empathy. Further on the findings from the analysis is discussed in relation to the historical animal autobiography and norms for desirable animal welfare in Norway today. The analysis and discussion is concluded at the end of the dissertation, where the research questions and the thesis statement will be answered.
