Magiske augneblikk; erfaringar med kulturprosjekt for eldre

Abstract

Frivillige samt private og offentlege aktørar står bak mange ulike aktivitetar der eldre menneske er målgruppa. Fleire av desse kulturprosjekta er støtta av offentlege midlar. Denne studien utforskar aktørane sine bidrag i eit kulturprosjekt for eldre. Korleis aktørane erfarer og forstår eldre si deltaking i prosjektet vert vektlagt. Studien har eit kvalitativt design der data er henta frå fokusgruppeintervju og oppfølgingssamtalar med aktørar i eit kulturprosjekt. Analysen er inspirert av systematisk tekstkondensering. Gjennom analysen kom det fram tre hovudkategoriar; den eldre opplever magiske augneblikk, den eldre opplever erindring og tilbakeblikk og den eldre bidreg med kunnskap og erfaring. Til saman syner funna kva dette tyder for eldre sin identitet og for eldre som integrert individ. Aktørane i kulturprosjektet erfarte at når kunnskap og erfaring igjen blir viktig, får den eldre bekrefta sin verdi og opplever å bli verdsett. Slike erfaringar var viktige for aktørane sin motivasjon til å fortsette dette arbeidet.

Volunteers, private and public «actors» are responsible for many activities in which elderly people are the targeted group. Many of these cultural projects are funded by public grants. This study explores the actors’ contributions to the cultural project for elderly people. Additionally, we highlight the actors’ descriptions of how the elderly face participating in the cultural project. The study has a qualitative and descriptive design and eleven actors from a cultural project participated. Data were collected by focus group interviews, and follow-up conversations with four of the informants. Analyses of the data are inspired by systematic text condensation. Three main categories emerged: The elderly experience magical moments, the elderly experience reminiscences and the elderly contribute knowledge and skills. A synthesis of the findings reveals the concepts elderly identity and the elderly as an integrated individual. From the actors’ point of view, observation and communication with the elderly in the project reveal the elderly’s experience of being appreciated and acknowledged for their valuable experience and historical competence.
