The purpose of this Bachelor´s thesis is to look at the development of Historielaget for Sogn, in addition to the factors that have contributed to its liquidation in 2007. The historical association was established in 1909 by landowner Gert Falch Heiberg, and its purpose was to spread knowledge about the history of Sogn. The most concrete work done in this context was the establishment of the museum De Heibergske Samlinger – Sogn Folkemuseum. The museum was a continuation of the collection Heiberg had started regarding his family museum at Amla. Historielaget for Sogn ran the museum from 1909 until its liquidation in 2007. Throughout this period it gradually lost its function as an organization. To benefit from governmental grants new terms were set to how the museum should be run. This led to Historielaget for Sogn being viewed as redundant, consequently resulting in its liquidation in 2007.nb_NO
