Sammendrag
The purpose of this bachelor thesis is to examine why and in what way Individual placement and support (IPS) can support a recovery process for people with severe mental illness. To find research that can give insight to the topic question, I chose to do a literature review. Four studies are included in this literature review. The findings shows that many has good experiences with IPS. Many experience that IPS has a positive effect on their self-esteem, hope for the future and quality of life. It turns out that the job specialist has an important impact on the participants. The findings indicate that IPS can support a recovery process because many experiences that they are acknowledged, respected and valued by the job specialist. This seems to cause increased self-esteem and hope for the future. Many get a paid job or get experiences with a paid job through IPS. The findings shows that this seems to increase engagement in the community and social inclusion. Because of this, it seems that IPS can support a recovery process in some ways. The findings also show that not everyone experience this positive effect of IPS.
