Konsekvenser av utviklingstraumer

Abstract

Early childhood trauma is a comprehensive topic and it´s recognized to have harmful effects on children´s development in several ways. The proposed diagnoses of developmental trauma disorder seeks to describe the different physiological changes that may occur due to severe child neglect. The purpose of this thesis is to examine what the research literature says about the consequences of developmental trauma disorder. To examine this topic I chose the method of a systematic literature review which resulted in four research articles. After analyzing the selected articles I found several recurring themes, and considered them in conjunction with relevant theory to shed light on the thesis research question. The results from the research articles distinctly indicate that developmental trauma disorder negatively impacts children´s development. In the role of a social worker it will be imperative to recognize different challenges these children face in order to give them the best help.
