Jeg vil ikke dø, men orker ikke å leve

Abstract

Title: ”I don’t want to die, but can not live”.

Purpose: The aim of this bachelor assignment is to find different tools that the social worker can use, so that one can meet people who want to take their life, in a good way. I also want to find ways to communicate with suicidal people to promote hope.

The reasearch question: ”How can I as a social worker communicate with persons who are suicidal to promote hope?”

Methodology: This bachelor assignment is based on a literature study where I have used research articles, books we have used throughout the school years and additional literature from the library at the university. I found the literature i have chosen in ”Oria” and at the library.

Findings: Professionals must be able to handle their own feelings and reactions in the encounters with people who are suicidal. People who are suicidal has a need to be met by dedicated and competent professionals. Professionals must meet them with understanding, listen actively and care. One has to explore how they are and they need someone to talk about their challenge.
