Abstract

In this bachelor assignment, I want to explore social control within minorities. Social control exist in the form of social norms everywhere in our society, but the debate has shown the recently that we need to talk about when social control becomes negative and leading. My main topic question is;

"What understandings of social control can help children and young people who experience this?»

I have done a literature study to find relevant studies and literature to discuss my main topic question. I have divided the assignment in three main. In these three parts, I will present how we can understand social control from a theoretical perspective, how minorities experience social control, and discuss various actions taken by NGOs to work preventively. In my conclusion, I would summarize what the research has shown, and what possibly could be further investigated.
