Digitalisering i grunnskolen
Abstract
Samfunnet er preget av store endringer som følge av ny teknologi, og den norske skolen må holde følge med den digitale utviklingen for å kunne møte det fremtidige kompetansebehovet. For å oppnå en vellykket digitaliseringsprosess er ledelsens rolle sentral. Formålet med masteroppgaven har derfor vært å besvare følgende forskningsspørsmål: “Hvordan legger skoleledelsen til rette for lærerens bruk av digital teknologi i undervisningen?”.
Vi har gjennomført en flere-case studie med semistrukturerte intervju for å undersøke bruk av digital teknologi i fem grunnskoler i Norge. Casene blir presentert hver for seg, før alle funnene diskuteres og analyseres opp mot litteratur som omhandler digitalisering, organisatorisk endring og endringsledelse, samt Technology Acceptance Model (TAM). For å kunne besvare det overordnede forskningsspørsmålet har vi supplert med to underspørsmål som tar utgangspunkt i konteksten og de ansatte som ledelsen må forholde seg til. Det er essensielt for ledere å forstå lærernes reaksjoner og forutsetninger for å ta i bruk ny teknologi.
Gjennom 15 intervjuer med ledere og lærere fra ulike grunnskoler i Norge har studien avdekket at digitaliseringen av grunnskolen kjennetegnes av å være kompleks. Lærerne har stor grad av autonomi, noe som medfører store forskjeller innad og mellom skoler. Lærerne reagerer med motstand mot endringene, og dette spesielt i starten av endringsprosessen. Lederne tilrettelegger gjennom kommunikasjon og gradvis omstilling, ved å etablere ekspertgruppe og gi handlingsrom, skape en arena for erfaringsdeling, samt utarbeide tydelig strategi og visjon for digitaliseringsprosessen. Disse tiltakene bidrar til å redusere motstand og øke engasjement. I tillegg fører det til at de ansatte opplever teknologien som enklere å bruke og nytteverdien som høyere, noe som vil påvirke lærernes bruk av digital teknologi.
